On August 16, 2022 the National Coalition for Food and Agricultural Research submitted comments in advance of the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health.
The comments highlighted how USDA Research, Education, and Economics (REE) underlies the tools necessary to build resiliency for humanity’s most basic needs, particularly relating to climate change and nutrition security for all Americans. Increased investments in nutrition research and innovative research tools are needed for the primary federal agencies responsible for nutrition research.
"To increase investments in nutrition research, the US government should determine incentives to catalyze public-private partnerships for nutrition research and private sector and philanthropic research funding that stimulates high-integrity, transparent, and unbiased research to address the nation’s priorities related to hunger, nutrition, and health," the letter writes.
